Rachel Carson
"The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe around us, the less taste we shall have for destruction." – Rachel Carson 1907-1964

Rachel Carson was a zoologist and marine biologist whose landmark book, Silent Spring, helped to launch the first global environmental movement. The result in America was a reversal in policy limiting pesticides and toxic dumping. Eventually we saw the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and efforts to clean up the toxic land and waterways. By the 1970's all of America's waterways had become fetid cesspools of death, overflowing with the waste of corporate giants pumped freely and without regard to effects.

Notable among the hazardous waste materials were PCBs, which had been identified as likely carcinogens by the 1930's. Some corporation involved with the dumping were, Monsanto who had a monopoly in PCB production, GE and Westinghouse who were large customers and fellow Agent Orange sellers DOW and Dupont. Together these five companies now have controlling interests in America's media, drug therapies and food.
