MONSANTO
On February 22, 2002, Monsanto was found guilty of "negligence, wantonness, suppression of truth, nuisance, trespass, and outrage" Under Alabama law the rare claim of outrage requires "conduct so outrageous in character and extreme in degree as to go
beyond all possible bounds of decency so as to be regarded as atrocious and intolerable in civilized society"
Monsanto's history is one of corporate killing, criminal fraud and cover-ups. For decades they produced and dumped PCB's and dioxins. By 1937 harmful effects were known and kept quiet to avoid disruption of business. Instead, money was paid to fund additional research, to better "understand the health effects".
Monsanto, along with Dow and Dupont, soaked Vietnam with Agent Orange. The War on Drugs brought billions more in revenues and decades of toxic chemicals poured onto the
land and into the water supplies. The barren mark of death has followed everywhere they have gone. The business of a chemical killer is death, they do it well.
These are the people Congress has trusted to alter our food supply. No safety tests are required, or done. Many claim exhaustive health studies have been done and safety proven, but that lie is easily busted. Where are the reports in JAMA that tell the medical community? Over a decade of altered food study would have produced many reports of peer reviewed study worth sharing.
Hundreds of millions are effected by the quality and content of our food supply. Surely, the suspected risk of rBGH dairy, increasing rates of diabetes, has been looked at to see if those foods are contributing to the epidemic. That's JAMA worthy but you won't find it. The biotech policy is don't look don't tell.
Michael Taylor, former Monsanto lobbyist attorney created a brilliant loophole called 'substantial equivalence', where the only measure is nutrient similarity. Anything else the novel food plant includes, pesticides, viruses, herbicide tolerance or other genetic modifications, are not factors for testing or approval. All safety issues rest on faith of the creators.
